I'd rather be swinging at grapefruits than aspirins.

Fall Football

I was treated to a very fancy night at Raymond James Stadium.  Laura and Scott Whitley scored Club Level tickets to the Panthers at Buccaneers game, AND it was Monday Night Football.  Note the ticket price…VERY fancy!

Bucs

$345!!!!!!!!!!!

My next football game was a totally different experience.  Going from fall FL weather (flip flops and jeans) to icy cold wintry KY weather (layers upon layers upon layers upon layers) was a shock.  However, nothing beats being back at my alma mater.  Every other year University of Tennessee visits Lexington to take on my Kentucky Wildcats.  We almost didn’t go this year because both teams were really having poor seasons, and because the temperature was going to be 28 degrees or so.  However, I was prepared with wool socks and my long puffy coat with a hood.  Nothing was going to stop me and my bourbon flask from going to that game.

The trend these days is to have an old school bus renovated into a party bus.  And they pull out all the stops.  They have 60″ tvs, toilets, heat and A/C, and they don’t skimp on the tailgating food.  Meats, side dishes, dips and cold beer.  That started us out just right before we went into the game.  Speaking of tickets…there were so many available that we each had 2 tickets to use – one for the first half and one for the second half.  Mom saved the day by sending a stadium blanket with us and I never got really cold the entire time.  Could have been the bourbon, or my Columbia brand below zero rated coat, but most likely the bourbon. The Cats stunk it up as we thought they would but it was still fun to be with my family at the game.

Peace and Power

While Susan and I were walking around downtown Chicago we came up a protest in response to the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman trial verdict that was announced July 13th around 10pm.  Here are some of the shots of the very peaceful and VERY powerful march.

Just a lil’ taste

I grew up in a traditional family and we could be compared to the Cleavers, only with beer and margaritas.

I’m helpful. I take abandoned shopping carts back to the safety of their grocery store home because I prefer a clutter-free parking lot.

If I won the lottery and I quit my job I’d buy a Minor League Baseball team. I’d also love to volunteer/work at the Spring Training games in Florida or Arizona in March.

I’m old school when it comes to birthdays and holidays. I like to send snail mail greeting cards.

One thing my mother would want you to know about me is that I love my nieces as if they were my own. And I miss my grandparents every day of my life.

Ask me about my drive from Clemson, SC back to Lexington, KY in the spring of 1990.

My favorite concerts:

  • Lit 2012
  • REM 1986
  • Cheap Trick 1986 and 1994
  • Smithereens 1996 and 2011
  • Psychedelic Furs 1986 and 2012
  • The Who Quadrophenia Tour 2012

If I had to present at show and tell I’d bring a picture of my Dad flying his Beechcraft Baron 55 twin engine airplane, and then tell you about all of the fun trips we’ve made in it.

My perfect Sunday is sleeping late, watching CBS Sunday Morning, pool time, catching up on sports scores, then hitting the local bar to meet up with friends and continue the weekend fun.
